Second EHA Research Conference 18-21 March 2024 - Molecular vulnerabilities and metabolism in hematological disorders

**Second EHA Research Conference (EHA ReCon): “Molecular vulnerabilities and metabolism in hematological disorders” Borovets, Bulgaria 18th-21st March 2024** https://ehaweb.org/research/eha-recon-2024/

I hope that you are all well.

Please forgive the block email, but I wanted to abuse my master email list of European Haematology to advertise the second EHA Research Conference. The ReCon is a flagship event for EHA representing the very best in European and international haematology research. The first conference in Sicily last year was one of the most interesting and enjoyable conferences I have attended and we have high hopes for the second conference reaching the same standard.

For the second meeting our theme is molecular vulnerabilities and metabolism and it has allowed us to invite some outstanding speakers. Along with Simon Haas, Achille Iolascon, Anna Kabanova, Martina Muckenthaler, Jean-Emmanuel Sarry, Andreas Trumpp and Britta Will, I have been involved in organising the conference and we have managed to put together a really great programme. Confirmed speakers include Dominique Bonnet, Paul Bourgine, Nina Cabezas Wallscheid, Felix Hartmann, Eyal Gottlieb, Kim de Keersmaecker, Martina Muckenthaler, Ana Ortega Molina, Daisuke Nakada, Alexandre Puissant, Roberta Russo, Kevin Ryan, JJ Schuringa, Jean-Emmanuel Sarry, Andrea Trump and Britta Will. The full 3.5 day programme can be seen at the website above. The talks will be broken down into 6 topics:

  •    Metabolic dependencies in malignant hematopoiesis
  •    Metabolism in erythropoiesis and megakaryocytopoiesis
  •    Emerging technologies in hematology
  •    Metal metabolism in malignant and non-malignant hematology
  •    Functional screenings of molecular vulnerabilities
  •    Emerging molecular vulnerabilities in malignant hematopoiesis

We have allocated space for non-invited talks for each topic, to be selected from submitted abstracts. We will try to favour younger, more emerging scientists, to ensure a broad mix of studies and to help provide exposure and “shop-window" opportunities for up and coming scientists. We also have a poster exhibition and, new this year, the top posters will be given 5 minute flash talks, so you have every reason to submit an abstract. The deadline for submission is Friday 17th November.

The 2024 conference is being held in the beautiful mountain resort of Borovets in Bulgaria, easily accessible from the international airport at Sofia and surrounded by stunning scenery. We have built in lots of break times to ensure that the scientific discussions are not just limited to the talks but a bit of skiing should be possible if that interests you (Borovets normally has snow until May) while our modern hotel and conference centre also has an Olympic size swimming pool.

We think that it will be a great meeting and all of the organisers are greatly looking forward to it. We hope that you and your trainees will join us in Borovets for an exciting and fun event. The official details are at the weblink above. Please feel free to cascade the email to those that I may have missed.

I hope to catch up with you all again soon. Hopefully in Borovets, if not before!

Best,

Brian Huntly
